About Kungsberget
The first lift up the mountain was built in 1954, but enthusiasts are said to have been skiing down Kungsberget long before that. Since then, the ride has continued to develop into the ski resort it is today.
Let us take you on a journey through time, about our history and true skiing joy, told by Gun Larsson, now Lyrberg – daughter of Johan Larsson who helped build Kungsberget in the 1930s and whose legacy we manage today.
Part of the Branäs Group since 2004
Kungsberget was jointly owned for a long time by the municipalities of Gävle and Sandviken, and was then fully owned by the municipality of Sandviken. In 2004, the Branäs Group acquired the facility. The Branäs Group also includes the Branäs Leisure Center, which is Sweden's fourth largest facility.
