Is it time for your first experience on skis? Welcome to Kungsbergets ski school! Here the children get to experience the fun side of skiing, where we focus on the joy of standing on a pair of skis. With us, you will find several different groups of different ages so that you can find a level that suits your child's experience. In this article, we guide you through the most common steps in our ski school for beginners!
Before we slide off, we need to get to know our skis and boots. The children learn to scrape the snow off their boots and put on their skis. After that, they get to experience what it's like to stand on skis on the snow – a first step to making friends with the snow!
When the children have gained confidence in their equipment, it is time to climb the first flat hill. The absolute easiest way is with the help of a roller belt. We show how to get on and off in the best way and, if necessary, we stand behind and help the child keep his balance. We make sure that every child has a safe and fun first experience on the way up to the start of the hill!
Now it's time to experience the first ride! The flat hill we just climbed will be our hill for the first real ride. We start with a "see and learn" method where the ski instructor shows how to plow and stay on the skis. Then it is the child's turn to test. After the ski instructor shows how to do it, it is the child's turn to test by following and trying to do the same. When everyone has finally reached the bottom, there are many who have already discovered the joy of skiing.
For the older children who feel comfortable, we also introduce the button lift. Here we test two different methods – the first where the child stands in front of the ski instructor and the second when they try it themselves with the help of the lift staff. We explain the importance of standing up, pointing the skis upwards and how to release safely.
Now it's time for the first turns! With a "follow John" concept, our ski instructors show you how to make plow turns. With the help of various fun exercises, where the ice cream cone is a big favorite among the children, and similes such as the toes are best friends and the heels are enemies, they take a step closer to becoming independent on skis, where the joy of skiing is always in focus!
Whether it's your first attempt at skiing or not, patience is the key to success. We at Kungsbergets ski school always have the joy of skiing as the basis of our teaching and hope we get the chance to teach you and your family to have fun on snow. Welcome to the world of skiing joy at Kungsberget!
